Milky Way - Kalthota, Sri Lanka

On a recent trip to Kalthota we stayed at a place in the middle of the jungle with relatively little light pollution. An early evening shower ensured clear skies and resulted in this photograph. I wish I had a wider lens with me though. This was shot at 24mm.

The Opera House - Sydney, Australia

Photographing the Opera House head on and capturing all 3sections isn't straight forward. You are either shooting upwards from the forecourt or you are shooting between the bars of a fence that runs up the stairs leading to the botanical gardens.  I shot this by poking the camera through some of the bars along the walkway. It wasn't easy as i couldn't see through the view finder or the screen due to the angle of the camera. Glad this turned out ok!

Malayan Night Heron - Colombo, Sri Lanka

The Malayan Night Heron (Gorsachius melanolophus) is a scarce migrant to Sri Lanka. A juvenile bird stopped by our garden in Colombo early on during the migrant season a couple of years ago and I was able to photograph it. The bird was not bothered by my presence and continued to feed whilst I photographed it.

The Opera House - Sydney, Australia

Visited the Opera House one evening after a shower of rain, hoping to photograph it without too many tourists walking in and out of my frame. I got lucky as there were only a few around. I setup the tripod in the forecourt very close to the building and managed to shoot this. I thought it was slightly different to the usual shots you see of the Opera House so was quite happy with it.
